# MCP server

> Connect Claude, Cursor or any MCP client to your KugelAudio account to generate speech from a chat.

The KugelAudio MCP server lets an AI assistant use your account directly: list
voices and models and turn text into speech. You sign in with your KugelAudio
account; there is no API key to copy.

```text theme={null}
https://www.kugelaudio.com/mcp
```

## Connect

<CodeGroup>
  ```bash Claude Code theme={null}
  claude mcp add --transport http kugelaudio https://www.kugelaudio.com/mcp
  ```

  ```json Cursor (.cursor/mcp.json) theme={null}
  {
    "mcpServers": {
      "kugelaudio": { "url": "https://www.kugelaudio.com/mcp" }
    }
  }
  ```
</CodeGroup>

In Claude (web or desktop), add it under **Settings → Connectors → Add custom
connector** with the URL above. Any client that supports remote MCP servers with
OAuth works the same way.

The first time the assistant uses the server, your browser opens a KugelAudio
sign-in. Pick the project the assistant should work in and press **Allow**. You
need to be able to manage API keys in that project, since connecting creates one.

## What the assistant can do

| Tool | What it does |
| - | - |
| `whoami` | The account, organization and project the assistant acts in |
| `list_models` | Text-to-speech models your organization can use |
| `list_voices` | Voices available to the project, optionally by language |
| `synthesize_speech` | Speech from text in a voice from `list_voices`; returns a one-time link to a WAV file |

Links from `synthesize_speech` are valid for 15 minutes and work once. A speech
link synthesizes when it is downloaded, so an assistant with a shell saves the
file with `curl -sS -o speech.wav <link>`; in a chat app, open the link to
download it. Write the text the way it should be spoken, as in
[Generate speech](/features/generate).

## Billing and access

Every call is an ordinary API request in the project you picked, billed to its
organization like any other usage (see [pricing](https://kugelaudio.com/pricing)).
Connecting creates an API key named `MCP: <assistant name>` that can generate
speech and read voices.

To disconnect an assistant, delete its key on the
[API keys page](/api-reference/authentication). The assistant also stops working
when you leave the project or lose the right to manage its keys.

## Next steps

* [Voices](/features/voices) to pick a voice for the assistant to use
* [Agent skill](/guides/agent-skill) if you are building your own integration with a coding agent
